Selected as a Meteor Partner
PTI will be directly involved in enhancing the Meteor reference implementation by adding technology that will allow loan data providers, such as guaranty and lending agencies, to easily and dynamically register their services with Meteor clients. This technology will help ensure that Meteor is successful by streamlining the processes of installing and using its capabilities. True to open source ideals, PTI will contribute all new technology additions to the Meteor source code collection.

A demonstration of the enhanced Meteor capabilities will be available at the NCHELP spring conference on June 3-6, in Tucson, Arizona; or by appointment. PTI will also be involved in developing Meteor for installation on popular non-open source platforms, such as IBM’s WebSphere™ application server family. NCHELP represents a nationwide network of guaranty agencies, secondary markets, lenders, loan servicers, collection agencies, schools and other organizations involved in the administration of the Federal Family Education Loan Program (FFELP). NCHELP members promote student access and choice for post-secondary education and training. Over the past 35 years, FFELP lenders have provided more than $300 billion in student loans.
Meteor is an open source software product that is available to schools at no cost. Institutions may download Meteor and run it from the institution’s web site, or they may access it from another web location of a servicer, lender, school, or guarantor. Sponsored by twenty-five NCHELP members, Meteor will aggregate student-specific financial aid information from a number of distributed sources on Stafford, PLUS, Consolidation, and Perkins loans.
