Education Assistance Corporation (EAC) guarantees student loans under the Federal Family Education Loan Program. Through their subsidiary, EASCI, they service student loans for lenders. They also provide financial aid information and technical service to students and schools.

EAC has completed PTI's e-Business Immersion Program, a low-cost, low-risk way to form a strategic e-Business plan and get solid recommendations for proceeding.

Throughout this effort, PTI's expert consultants worked closely with EAC in the following process:

• Meeting to understand the EAC's objectives and priorities for implementing an e-Business plan
• Offering ideas that may not have been considered
• Training and mentoring EAC's staff in the process of gathering and modeling requirements. This included the on-site delivery of a complete training course on the Unified Process for Software Development
• Performing actual requirements gathering and analysis
• Constructing high-level business process models based on the analysis
• Developing and delivering recommendation document and project plan.

The deliverables of the program are as follows:

• Unified Process Training for Client Staff
• High-level Business Process Model
• Recommendation and Risk Document
• Customized Solution Implementation Project Plan

This work has provided EAC with a "jump-start" on their IT strategies by addressing the issues that should be considered before implementing an e-Business venture, initiating EAC's staff into the process of gathering and modeling business requirements, and delivering a recommendation and plan for EAC to implement the strategy.
