Student Loans of North Dakota is a student loan guaranty and lending agency that is taking full advantage of PTI's Peer-to-Peer Mentoring™ program. In the fall of 1999, PTI was called into SLND to help with a large-scale enterprise development. PTI engineers immediately partnered with SLND resources to jointly develop the solution. The goal of this project was not only to deliver a world-class enterprise solution, but to also train SLND engineers in effective analysis and design methods, modern programming techniques, and project-specific architecture and implementation details. In order to establish a foundation of effective project communication, PTI delivered a series of personalized training courses. Once the training was complete, PTI did not just leave SLND to let them try to figure out what they had just been taught. We stayed actively involved. Under PTI direction and review, SLND business analysts started developing project use cases. The approach of teaching new techniques while providing expert development resources is not only instructive, but also results in the delivery of expert solutions. As project phases were approved, PTI took the lead in development activities — all the while mentoring the SLND developers on the process. PTI then assigned focused development teams to begin implementation. With Peer-to-Peer Mentoring™, SLND's developers have direct and ready access to PTI developers; SLND project leaders communicate regularly with PTI project leaders; and SLND management is in contact with PTI management. PTI's business model truly becomes a partnership for enterprise success. SLND is currently using Priority Guaranty Solutions for its production guaranty operations. Back to Student Loan Industry page
