This course is specifically tailored to Managers. It introduces Object-Oriented Concepts and Terminology, Unified Modeling Language (UML), Unified Software Development Process, and differences between traditional and Object-Oriented projects.

Units Included:

OO1001-1 - Object-Oriented Concepts and Terminology for Managers - This unit provides an introduction to object-orientation, comparing it to traditional structured and function-oriented development approaches. The unit is an effective way of introducing project managers, business managers, users, and other 'participants' to the Object-Oriented development concept.

OO1002-1 - Introduction to Unified Modeling Language (UML) Notation for Managers - This unit presents an introduction to the Unified Modeling Language (UML) commonly used to construct visual models in all phases of object-oriented development. UML is a widely accepted standard for object modeling endorsed by the Object Management Group (OMG) as the industry standard for modeling languages. The unit acquaints the student with the modeling process for each aspect of object-oriented development.

OO1003-1 - Overview of the Unified Software Development Process for Managers - This unit describes the Unified Process used in object-oriented development. It consists of four stages or phases that can be translated directly to a project's work breakdown structure. This unit describes those processes that should be managed and controlled by the project manager.

OO1004 - Differences Between Traditional and Object-Oriented Projects - This unit provides a comparison of Object-Oriented projects to traditional projects with special focus on differences in project management. Differences are approached from the perspective of the system user, the developer, and the IT manager. This unit is designed to help managers in the transition process.
