Course: Unified Software Development Process

Course Identifier: USDP

Course Introduction:

This is a comprehensive course providing the essential knowledge needed to produce well-designed software, using the Unified Software Development Process. Students will learn how software requirements are gathered and translated into Use Case models. They will also learn how these models are fed into UML documentation showing the design of a full Object-Oriented system.

10 days
15% labs

Audience:

  • Business Analysts
  • Acceptance Test Planners
  • Project Managers
  • Architects
  • Joint Application Development (JAD) team members (developers and users) who will establish requirements and review analysis and design deliverables
  • Systems Analysts
  • Software Developers (Object Relationship Model as a minimum)

Computer and Software Specifications:

  • Processor: Pentium III or better
  • RAM: 256 MB or more
  • Operating System: Windows NT or better

Modules Included:

OO1003 Overview of the Unified Software Development Process - This unit describes the Unified Process used in object-oriented development. It consists of four stages or phases that can be translated directly to a project's work breakdown structure.

OO2002 Business Process Analysis - This unit teaches how to define business processes and model them using a vertical operator/task framework that encompasses process inputs, suppliers, outputs, and customers. The training emphasizes how factors such as standards, training, equipment, procedures, etc. can positively impact process performance.

OOM230 Object-Oriented Analysis and Design - This module will lead the student through the start of the Objected-Oriented process from documenting the requirements using Use-Case modeling through designing the system using UML.
