Unit Overview:

This unit provides an introduction to Java Servlets, comparing it to Java program development. It also discusses the use of Servlets within the Model View Controller (MVC) pattern. The unit is designed to prepare the developer for Servlet development. It will look at Servlets that interact with other Servlets; as well as with the Hypertext Markup Language (HTML).

Unit Duration: 24 hours

Unit Objectives:

Students will gain an understanding of Servlet programming, session scope, and basic web application servers concepts.

  • Gain an understanding of how to use JavaServlets
  • Program JavaServlets within Web based environment
  • Understand Session Scope and JavaServlets
  • Understand how Servlets work within the Web Application Server environment
