Unit Overview:

This unit provides a comparison of Object-Oriented projects to traditional projects with special focus on differences in project management. Differences are approached from the perspective of the system user, the developer, and the IT manager. This unit is designed to help managers in the transition process.

Unit Duration: 2 hours

Unit Objectives:

Students will gain an understanding of the differences between traditional and Object-Oriented, how those differences will impact the development team, and strategies for transitioning to Object-Oriented projects.

  • Understand how the unique characteristics of Object-Oriented development impact the players: project managers, system users, developers, and IT managers
  • Recognize the most common hurdles that need to be overcome when transitioning to an Object-Oriented development process
